INSTALLATION AT INDIA ART FAIR
Setting the stage for the India Art Fair 2014, the installation uses more than 2000 shipment container boxes in a form that is resonant of a city skyline. The installation uses commonplace items to create space for the artworks, alluding to the everyday inspirations that are the building blocks of art in its different manifestations. The installation provides a backdrop to one of the biggest, most intensive engagements with art in the city, it seeks to bring to the forefront the need for vibrant culturally active public space in the city, where ‘aam’ and art can meet. The installation is an extension of our work in designing and advocating for cultural infrastructure in our fast globalizing, urbanizing habitats. Spaces that bring art into the public domain are critical, yet overlooked building blocks of the city.
